20/11/18 Righto... SJ Tuesday

It used to be my favorite.  But of late SJ Saturday beats it.

I want to talk about what is close to my heart - K to College.

The purpose of education is not knowledge but wisdom...

Fuck it.  I want to chill tonight.  If you want to learn about education then emulate Lizzie Bee.

Number 1:  Always remember ALL the names of the students you teach.

Number 2:  You must love your students like your own children.

Number 3:  When you reprimand be specific to the person (that is why the name is important) and the incident AS it happens.

Number 4:  Customize you teaching style according to the intelligence of the class.

Number 5:  Always be prepared with extra pencils, papers, calculators etc. so that there is no excuse for the student not to learn.

Number 6:  Go the extra mile.  Be prepared to work long hours and lose valuable sleep.

Number 7:  Exceed external expectation but thrive more on personal expectation.

Number 8:  Never ever lose your passion in teaching.

Number 9:  Do not give lame excuses to be absent from teaching.

Number 10:  Have a positive mental attitude.

As you can see, with this 10 observations, the focus or the burden of proof is on the teacher.  A teacher must know how to deal with a chimpanzee, a monkey and a donkey.  I am not that patient.  I only deal with chimpanzees.

A teacher must be ready to face all three.

Juice can you imagine, out of 8 classes in a form, only 2 are boleh pakai (worthy)?

The rest are hopeless.  The last 2 classes are goners.  They go to school so that their parents don't have to baby sit them.  They require different teaching methods.

Our schools are syllabus driven, not student driven.  Lizzie teaches the brightest 2 classes and she requested to teach the last 2 classes.  Different folks different strokes.

With the bright classes she is a strict teacher.  With the dimwits she is a caring matron.  She doesn't follow the syllabus with them.  As long as she can inject good values and show them the importance of education, she achieves something with these kids.

Lizzie is a benchmark of a par excellent educator.  She is a Master Trainer.  She is strict but in a loving way.  So it is hard love with Lizzie.

I like this song:

As for me, I believe in Men Sana in Corpo Sano (Sound Mind in a Sound Body).  If I have it my way, then I enforce Physical Education first thing every morning before class starts.  This allows neurogenesis and neuroplasticity to take place.

Nutrition is next.  Then only the curriculum.

I am a believer in Learning Through Discovery, Games the Mirror of Life and Experiential Learning.  Technology is important too but not necessary.

Schools need to be fun.  Teachers need to be passionate about teaching.  Not all students are bright but everybody is capable of learning.  The method might differ.

Actually it is easy to deal with young minds:
  • Tell them what you want to tell them
  • Tell them
  • Tell them what you have told them
Along the way sell them the benefits - WIIFM (What's in it for me)

Oh gosh... It is very worrisome when we think about our System of Education.  An advancing army is only as fast as its slowest soldier.

This is the state we are in right now.  The rippling effect is we have a stoic workforce.  The Millennial are the product of years of neglect.

Well, the good news is, those who are a bit ahead of the rest will shine without much effort.  Just work smart AND work hard.

I'd been in the workforce.  Most rise through years of loyalty.  Not much of intelligence required.

Hey baby *I like this song is nice too.  Very relaxing:

*  See, my synapses are linked to the word song LMAO.

You know, one part of me is saying fuck the System of Education, my kids are doing OK.  But then when I look at Lizzie and how much she loves her work, I said, "Dear God, put some senses into Mazlee".  LMAO LMAO...

It maybe a pun, but I really did pray honey.  Among those rare occasions when I do pray.

OK on a serious note read this book:
