16/8/18 Trust and Trustworthiness

You may be wondering why I take the tell all approach.

Well, it's a question of choice really.  It boils down to the motive.  My motive has always been to have an open communication with you.  I have nothing to hide.

As a fact it is my advantage to be sine cera, without wax.

Even when I was a salesman, I took the open approach.  I believe information is potential power.  Therefore the more information you have the more powerful for you in making an informed decision.

People like to judge, seldom they realize that their judgement is actually based on their own perception rather than the knowledge they acquired externally.  In short, if you wear a green lenses you see the world as green.

Hence being open is the abundance mentality.  It is the mindset of a giver.  People are more receptive to a giver than a taker.

It is not true all the time but it is true most of the time.  To me knowledge is a gift.  That's why my favorite present is a book.

Is there a risk of being open?  Certainly.  The major risk is you might get rejected.  However most of the time this is a perceived risk.  Like I said, I once shared my google drive password.  I didn't foresee any risk.  I however learned my lesson when 2 of my sketches got stolen.  Maybe I was taking it too far.

Being open is the cornerstone of my philosophy.  While the above diagram is an adaptation from Stephen Covey, the diagram below is mine.  I proudly say I singlehandedly came up with this model and I live by it:

Of course the Covey influence is still there.

I am a superb salesman but I am a lousy marketeer.  With all the knowledge that I have on personal development and consulting, I can come up with a pretty decent book.  But writing a book is only half the story.  You need to promote the book too.  That's the part I am weak.

I however was never driven by money.  I am more interested with creative expression.  I want to share.

At one time I sold varieties of religious cassettes, the money I earn there I gave to the school boys who went to pray at the mosque.

I also used to sell Habbatul Sauda (Black Seed).  End up I donated them to everybody I met because it was stated in the hadith that the spice can cure any illness.

I also did MLM business selling organic soy bean. In the end I used the products as gifts.

Open communication only works if there is trust.  To have trust we need to have people who are trustworthy.  Trustworthiness needs congruence of words and action[].

Can we have that?  Well, that is what I am trying to achieve now at 54.  I want to be able to look in the mirror and instead of having others judge me, I'll be the judge of my own deeds.
